Dr Raul Garcia-Patron Sanchez joins the Phasecraft team

05.03.24

We are delighted to announce that Raul Garcia-Patron has recently joined Phasecraft as a Lead Quantum Scientist. Raul also maintains his current role as a senior lecturer at the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh.

Raul has been working on topics related to quantum computation using near-term quantum devices and quantum superiority over classical computers since 2013 and Phasecraft welcomes his expertise in this area as we continue to tackle ambitious problems by accelerating the practical application of quantum computing.

Ashley Montanaro, co-founder and CEO of Phasecraft, said “We are thrilled that Dr Garcia-Patron has joined our team. His unique expertise in quantum information theory will be a huge asset as we push towards quantum advantage in the near term.“

Raul Garcia-Patron adds “I am excited to join a dynamic and skilled team of researchers working toward making quantum advantage a reality.”

Raul’s research interest broadly spans the areas of quantum information theory and quantum computation, where he is particularly well-known for his work in quantum information processing with photonic systems.

Previously Raul was postdoctoral fellow at MIT (2007-2010) and Max-Planck Institute of Quantum Optics with an Alexander van Humboldt Fellowship (2011-2013). He held a tenured position as FNRS Research Associate at Université Libre de Bruxelles from 2015 to 2019.

A native of Madrid, he holds an Engineer in Physics degree (2003) and PhD from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) (2007).
